Mendful Conflict Resolution Training Curriculum

The Mendful training provide a rich, supportive, hands-on, diverse, international learning community in which we use powerful mind, body, spirit, and emotion tools to work in large and small groups, to help you connect with and choose your own optimal inner state. From there, we help you practice bringing that presence to the tools of resolving
conflicts with others.

Community
The Mendful Training forms a diverse, tight-knit community based on trust, integrity, and generosity. We practice extensively with one another to refine our skills, and also receive support and care in the process.  We also give regular, thoughtful feedback to one another, which helps both us as givers and receivers of that feedback.

From the inside out
The Mendful approach draws on both practical and relational insights and practices of mind, body, emotion, and spirit. We help you learn and practice tools to become aware of, work with and regulate your own inner state which not only helps with effectively attuning to and assisting others, but also can contribute to your own personal growth.

Overall trajectory
We start with the practitioner’s self in relation to self, apply those skills to self in relation to another, and finally to self facilitating one or two others, with each set of skills building on the previous ones. The curriculum draws from Nonviolent Communication mediation based in the work of Marshall Rosenberg, meditative practices, Reichian character structure, and other mind-body-spirit-emotion traditions.

Why it works
The Mendful Training centers around an insight that’s been proven repeatedly over time: When a practitioner brings both an embodied compassionate presence and a set of robust skills to two people in conflict, that practitioner can help the duo move from a tense and stuck place to a more relaxed, connected one. Trust, goodwill, and creativity emerge. From that place, clients can typically find their own solutions quickly and easily.
